barge at the Amsty Deepwater Loading Dock

Project Description

Client: Americas Styrenics LLC

Location: St. James Parish, LA

Date of Completion: Oct 2015

Boh Bros. Construction completed a deep-draft ship dock in the Mississippi River at St. James Parish, Louisiana for Americas Styrenics. The ship dock construction consisted of a loading platform, breasting dolphins, mooring dolphins, protection piles, catwalks, a 240’ elevated pipeway extending to the existing barge dock, and associated mechanical and electrical work. Additionally, the existing barge loading and unloading terminal at the site, which remained in operation throughout construction, required modifications and improvements to interface with the new deep draft ship dock. The 670-ft. long dock was built on the outside of the existing dock and can handle tankers up to 54,000 dead weight tons. Boh Bros. drove 48-inch diameter pipe piles upwards of 210’ long and completed the job in early October 2015, two months ahead of schedule.
